ThingLink, an award-winning Finnish education technology company, announced today that they have joined the Google for Education Integrated Solutions Initiative. For ThingLink, this is a major new partnership to support education and enterprise organisations globally in their increasing use of technology for learning using multiple platforms and devices.
ThingLink is a visual publishing solution for education and workplace learning. You can use it to bring images, video and 360 degree virtual tours to life with further information, voice and text notes, as well as other resources from the web. Students can use it to document projects and assignments while developing creativity, communication, and digital skills. In 2019, ThingLink’s innovative approach was awarded the UNESCO ICT in Education prize.
ThingLink and Google for Education
ThingLink has built several integrations to support G Suite for Education users. Teachers and students can log in using Google single sign-on, embed Google Apps such as YouTube, Maps, Forms, Slides, and Docs into ThingLink images, video, and virtual tours. Users can also design custom icons, or infographics using Google Drawings.
Once ready to share, educators can use the Share to Classroom function on ThingLink to create tasks in the Google Classroom workflow. ThingLink works especially well on Chromebooks, and accessibility functions such as dictation can be used in the ThingLink tag editor complementing the accessibility features ThingLink offers.
Earlier this month ThingLink announced joining the Chromebook App Hub, which helped to pave the way for the Google for Education and ThingLink Partnership.
Ulla-Maaria Koivula, ThingLink founder and CEO, says: “Easy content creation tools that work on any platform and device supporting social interaction, feedback and reflection have never been more important in learning than now. We are delighted to announce we have joined the Google for Education Integrated Solutions Initiative, integrating ThingLink’s visual learning solution with G Suite for Education tools. The Google for Education community is a vibrant group of global educators and we can’t wait to see what ideas will spark from this opportunity”.
