ThingLink Bridges Spatial Content Creation Across the Apple Ecosystem, Empowering Experts and Educators

From iPhone to iPad to Mac to Apple Vision Pro

Today, we are officially introducing ThingLink Capture, our new iOS 3D-scanning app, alongside an enhanced version of ThingLink for Apple Vision Pro. Together, these products create an end-to-end workflow where users can scan physical objects using iPhone Pro or iPad Pro models with LiDAR Scanner, enhance them with interactive content in ThingLink, and experience them in immersive environments on Apple Vision Pro.

What excites us most about this launch is how it builds on the foundation we’ve been building between digital and physical, mobile and mixed reality for the past 15 years.

Whether you are a safety manager capturing equipment for training, a curator of a national museum, an educator, or an L&D professional creating student or employee onboarding, you can now capture, create, and deliver spatial learning experiences across iPhone Pro, iPad Pro, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro.

ThingLink’s new end-to-end spatial creation workflow connects the existing products in the Apple ecosystem to support the adoption and use of the new ones.

ThingLink Capture: Bringing Spatial Creation to Every Workplace and Classroom

With any iPhone or iPad models with LiDAR Scanner, ThingLink Capture lets you go from a 3D scan to a spatial learning experience within hours. The workflow is simple; scan an object with your iPhone or iPad, save the model to ThingLink, add interaction points and share on any device or LMS. This workflow enables organizations to create and deploy interactive 3D learning experiences quickly.

When used with Apple Vision Pro, 3D scans created with ThingLink Capture enable object-based spatial learning experiences. Using Apple Vision Pro’s spatial tracking capabilities and AI-trained 3D reference models, the app can recognize physical objects and display interactive content aligned directly with them.

Organizations can begin creating 3D learning content today using iPhone and iPad, and extend those experiences to Apple Vision Pro if desired in the future.

ThingLink for Apple Vision Pro (v1.5): The Complete Spatial Learning Platform

Our enhanced version of ThingLink for Apple Vision Pro introduces expanded capabilities for creating and experiencing spatial learning content. This version of the application includes complete on-device creation and editing capabilities with Apple Intelligence content creation assistance and support for different user roles. In addition, learners can now also access any previously created ThingLink projects across the Apple Ecosystem, from iPhone Pro and iPad Pro  to Mac and Apple Vision Pro.

Here is a summary of the highlights:

Live Object Recognition and Tracking

In ThingLink for Apple Vision Pro we combine Apple’s spatial tracking framework with AI-trained 3D reference models. When an object is scanned and processed, the system learns its shape and key features. During use, the headset matches what it sees in the real world to those learned references, allowing annotations, labels, and media to remain precisely anchored to the correct object even as a person moves around.

On-Device Creation and Editing

Using the 3D scans created with ThingLink Capture, you can add rich media hotspots to them directly on-device, converting them into objects for learning. For example, a maintenance technician entering a facility can identify interactive objects and access specifications, procedures, or troubleshooting guidance directly through hotspots on the equipment. What is this? How can I use this? How can I fix this? The answers appear exactly where they are needed.

Exploring Augmented 3D Models in Your Space

Place and explore any enhanced 3D object in your physical space blending digital content with the physical environment, move them around, or add them to a virtual tour to train maintenance or customers on equipment that isn’t physically present.

View All ThingLink Projects in the Headset

You can now experience any ThingLink content within Apple Vision Pro. This means previously-created tours, training scenarios, and other experiences featuring 360° images, videos, and annotated 3D models.

Democratizing Spatial Content Creation

Spatial computing is evolving from single devices into connected ecosystems of tools and experiences with a range of wearables and on-demand spatial services. In this transition, spatial scales as an ecosystem play, rather than through the adoption of individual devices. Without harnessing the inspiration and creative power of experts and educators, we won’t see the benefits of spatial learning at scale.

ThingLink’s mission is to help its users transform learning by connecting digital interaction points and contextual guidance to physical environments. With this launch, we’re taking that mission to its most ambitious level yet, making spatial computing and easy content creation accessible across the entire Apple ecosystem.
