From 3D Scanning to Interactive Spatial Overlays: How ThingLink Makes Spatial Learning Accessible to Millions

Ulla-Maaria Koivula

For over a decade, we have been on a mission: to make the world easier to understand by connecting digital knowledge to real-life environments. From interactive images to 360° tours, we’ve helped educators, trainers, and professionals bring learning closer to reality. Now, we’re excited to take that mission one step further by rolling out two new products for spatial content creation and learning.

ThingLink for Apple Vision Pro: An End-to-End Spatial Creation and Learning Flow

ThingLink’s new application for Apple Vision Pro (featured in Apple press release on Thursday) makes it easy to create context-aware spatial training experiences in physical environments. Using the headsets native recording capabilities and ThingLink editor in Apple Vision Pro, experts and educators can create interactive learning experiences literally by walking and talking. As learners walk through a space and focus their attention to objects around them, the application shows a spatial overlay with contextual information.

ThingLink Capture: Bringing Spatial Creation to Every Workplace and Classroom with iPhones and iPads

In the next weeks, we are also introducing ThingLink Capture, an integrated application for easy 3D scanning. Workplaces and schools already using iOS devices with LiDAR scanners can begin to learn future-ready skills by creating their own spatial experiences; interactive 3D manuals, employee and student onboarding, or the next generation science and art exhibitions. ThingLink Capture lets you save these models to your own account on ThingLink or directly to Apple Vision Pro, where you can easily add rich media annotations and conversational guidance to them.

Whether you have Apple Vision Pro today does not matter, but when you do, the content will already be there.

Expanding Spatial Learning Across Platforms

In the coming years, millions of students and employees will develop new skills through a wide range of contextual learning experiences using a wide range of devices. We are living through a paradigm shift; moving from staring at one small screen to wearing lightweight glasses that deliver contextual knowledge and real-time guidance exactly when it’s needed. The experience we’re now introducing across the Apple ecosystem is just the beginning; our vision is to make this seamless creation flow and learning experience available across all platforms.PlayA recoding of ThingLink for Apple Vision Pro
