Immersive Learning in Action: ThingLink and Epson
By ThingLink Certified Trainer Amanda Pickard
There are moments in teaching when something does more than simply work well. It reshapes the entire learning experience. That transformation became clear when immersive learning experiences created with ThingLink were combined with the flexibility of an Epson projector.
The impact was not rooted in technology alone. It was in ‘what technology made possible’ for children.
Learning That Moves
The true strength of the projector lies in its adaptability. It can project onto walls, ceilings or, most powerfully in this setting, directly onto the floor. That simple shift changes the dynamic of the classroom.
When learning appears on the floor, children do not remain passive observers. They crawl. They roll. They stretch and reach. They swim through digital oceans. They explore using their whole bodies.
This physical engagement supports far more than enthusiasm. As children move, they naturally develop gross motor skills, strengthen core stability and build the important muscles along their backs that support posture, balance and early writing stamina.
The result is embodied learning, where physical movement and cognitive development work together seamlessly.

Independence Through Immersion
When paired with ThingLink’s immersive experiences, the learning went even further.
Children navigated digital spaces independently. They made choices. They followed their curiosity. Rather than being directed step by step, they explored interactive hotspots, sounds and visuals at their own pace.
A Game Changer for Early Years
What stood out most was how instinctive the experience felt. Some children were immediately drawn to the floor projection, engaging physically and energetically. Others interacted more quietly, exploring the digital elements in their own time. Every learner found an entry point.
The experience was not simply engaging. It was transformational.
ThingLink and my Epson Projector are a match made in heaven. It’s such an easy way to engage learners, build their confidence with technology while they collaborate and learn together. And then they can head home after school and still access the same familiar content on their own devices.

In a purposefully designed classroom, the combination of flexible projection and immersive digital storytelling would be considered essential. Together, they create an environment where movement supports learning, independence flourishes and curiosity drives meaningful exploration.
For young learners, this approach truly represents a game changer.
