<div>LISD's Read On Lampasas is designed to be a fun way to learn and share, all while instilling a love of reading in our students! All staff are encouraged to join the game, but it will be on a voluntary-basis only. Teachers, Administrators, Para-Professionals - any LISD employee who wants to participate in the contest is invited to join.</div>
<div>"Chapters" are specific actions or challenges the players can perform or master each week:</div><ul><li><b>Challenge 1 - Jan. 16-20 - </b>S<b>trategies for Motivating Students to Read across the Curriculum</b></li><li><b>Challenge 2 - Jan. 23-27</b> -<b>The Reading/Writing Connection</b></li><li><b>Challenge 3 - Jan. 30-Feb.3</b> - <b>Expository Strategies</b></li><li><b>Challenge 4 - Feb. 6-10</b> -<b>Discussion, Debates, Discourse </b></li><li><b>Challenge 5 - Feb.13-17</b> - <b>Vocabulary Strategies</b>-</li><li><b>Challenge 6 - Feb. 20-24</b> -<b>Formative Assessment</b></li></ul>
<div>Loot can be earned for participating in #readonlampasas! Each week, participants will be eligible to receive a professional book that compliments each task. In addition to that, each participant who submits a qualified tweet each of the 6 weeks will be invited to a campus luncheon catered by Nuthin' Butts BBQ! At the luncheon on each campus, one lucky tweeter will be registered for the 2017 Think! Conference hosted by Lead4Ward in San Antonio! </div>
<div>Chapter Challenges... 1. Staff will tweet using their own personal Twitter account. (This should not be a joint PLC or campus account.) 2. Participants will tweet an example picture with a short description showing how they addressed the weekly chapter challenges. 3. Individuals will include the hashtag, #ReadonLampasas in each tweet. 4. Fun weekly prizes will be given based on the drawing from the week's individual tweets. 5. The names in the drawing will be generated weekly and will not accumulate from week to week. 6. Any participant who tweets all six weeks will be invited to a BBQ lunch on their campus. </div>
<div>The contest will continue for 6 weeks. Challenges will be emailed to the whole district on Friday of each week. The emails will contain a video explanation of the chapter challenge. Individual tweets with example pictures or student products along with the hashtag, #ReadOnLampasas must be received by Thursday evening to be eligible for the weekly drawing. The contest will begin on Monday, January 16th and end on Friday, February 24. </div> s4.thingpic.com
<div> Safety considerations when sharing... </div><div>1. Students must have permission to be photographed. A short list of students who cannot be photographed can be obtained from the campus registrar. </div><div>2. Please do not display students' last names. </div><div>3. Please do not show students' grades in tweeted pictures.</div><div>4. Please do not tweet identifiers such as special education, G/T, etc.</div>
