(Part of the Sugar Act of 1733) The Sugar Act of 1773 This law, made and pushed in the mid-1733's, banned all types of trade related to sugar. In other words, Britain would not let colonial America trade with any other country for sugar type items. These items included sugar, rum, molasses, etc. It was later revised in 1764. s2.thingpic.com
(Painting depicting the war) The French and Indian War This war was fought from 1756 to 1763. This war was over land. While the colonies tried to expand, France had settled in the western part of the continent. When the colonies explored there, it angered France and they started a war in colonial America and in Europe. In colonial America, the French sided with the Indians to help. Eventually, Britain came over and helped the colonies get out of trouble; however, Britain was angry with the colonists and decided to isolate them to where they were previously located. s1.thingpic.com
(Part of the Proclamation of 1763) The Proclamation of 1763 Issued on October 7, 1763, this law for bided settlers from creating new settlement over the Appalachian Mountains. This was put into law after the French and Indian to tell settlers to stay over on their land, not the French's. Because of this proclamation, settlers were angered because they knew of great farm land over where they said not to go. s4.thingpic.com

The sons of liberty had seized the opportunity to spill tons of tea into the harbor as an act of defiance. They dressed as Indians and stormed the ship through crate after crate overboard. The Stamp Act This act, which came into law in 1765, set heavy taxes on papers, documents, etc. This was a law because England was in deep debt from the French and Indian War. (soldiers invading a house) The Quartering Act This act was given in the middle of 1765. It gave soldiers the right to stay or take over anyone's house. This angered people very much because their houses were sometimes broken or changed by the soldiers staying. The Townshend Acts Declared in 1767, the Townshend Acts taxed colonists on paper, glass, tea, etc. This was just another law, but the colonists saw it as an abuse of Britain's power over the colonies. s4.thingpic.com
The Boston Massacre The first shot was fired at March 5, 1770. A group of colonists had gathered to argue about recent laws and taxes when a group of redcoats were sent to disperse the crowd. The meeting then turned into chaos as 5 men were killed as people ran from the shots fired by the British. Later, the British redcoats were tried and some of them were tarred and feathered for killing and crime. s2.thingpic.com
The Intolerable Acts This act was given in 1774 as punishment to Boston. Because the Boston tea party angered the king, he decided to punish the people of Boston and everyone else with laws and taxes. The colonists hated the laws and named them intolerable.
