Half man, half ash burns away on a midnight train to somewhere (hopefully, not hell); a half smile that under any other circumstances would seem friendly, but not here. This guy is a half trip!
Reminds me of a burning cigarette that has been inhaled one too many times (the spirit of man is leaving).

Dull eyes expressing apathy or contempt; mouth is feigning resistance to expressing joy, sadness, or speech; the monster is not here for your amusement.
If his forced smile is arched upwards a bit more, he'd be totoro.

A young woman in her 20s drinks a can of soda-like substance. Her eyes shifts to the right, but not staring at the furry headed monster next to her, as her attention seems not be transfixed on any particular thing within the visible frame. With her wide head scarf, buttoned down long jacket, and a sweater and short skirt peaking through, the young woman appears self-assured with intent to go somewhere specific by train.
A briefcase and a tie? The furry-headed monster seems to be a business man. Perhaps his antenna receives radio/wifi/4G/bluetooth signals that calls him to return home from work (or work to home?).
Holding one's own hand implies nervousness and a need for protection or for assurance.
Used bandaid stuck to the wall of the train means that this is just an everyday train going to and from work (nothing supernatural about it, is there?)
