Not as difficult to produce as video, but far more eye grabbing than still images, they are a simple way to attract attention and animate your content. \u00a0GIFs allow ThingLink users to bring motion and life to traditionally still media units.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even better, they can be incorporated into ThingLink at all levels. There are three ways to use GIFs in ThingLink:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2>#1\u00a0GIF As a Background Image<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.thinglink.com\/card\/654663986607816704\" width=\"700\" height=\"1376\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.europapress.es\/desconecta\/curiosity\/noticia-15-gestos-diferentes-significados-otros-paises-20150514080824.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">via Europa Press<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Large GIFs can be uploaded as a background image and tagged. In this example from Europa Press, they\u2019ve tagged a GIF that animates hand signals from around the world. Instead of just reading about what these different gestures mean, viewers can see exactly which gestures they should know, and which they should avoid!<\/p>\n<p><strong>How<\/strong>:\u00a0To tag a GIF, either upload a .gif file or use the GIF\u2019s url on the create page.<\/p>\n<h2>#2 GIF in a Tag<\/h2>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.thinglink.com\/card\/751848096714981378\" width=\"800\" height=\"433\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div>via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinglink.com\/scene\/751848096714981378\">Virgin Media<\/a><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>GIFs can also be a great addition to the tag content. This could be a huge asset to a retail image, showing how the product moves. Sports publishers can bet on GIFs to recap complex plays. Even internal documents benefit from a GIF that shows team members exactly what they need to click in the company intranet. Unlike videos, the viewer does not need to do an additional click to play the content. GIFs run automatically ensuring that your animation is seen.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>How<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/span>To add a GIF to a tag, paste the GIF\u2019s url into the link field of the tag editor. \u00a0You can retrieve GIF&#8217;s from websites like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imgur.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Imgur<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>#3\u00a0GIF as a Custom Icon<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.thinglink.com\/card\/722826090350903298\" width=\"700\" height=\"2584\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/future\/story\/20151130-take-a-journey-through-the-sleeping-mind?ocid=twfut\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">via BBC<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The final way to incorporate GIFs is in a custom icon. Not only is this a striking first impression for your image, it can interact with the background image to animate the entire experience. In the above image from the BBC, the sleeping Zzz act as icons while doing anything but putting the reader to sleep.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>How<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/span>Use the upper right menu to navigate to settings. In the Tag Icons tab, upload a .gif file as a default custom icon.
