McCormick is a specialist in ancient Near Eastern religions, visual culture, and the Bible. She created a ThingLink project because she had been wondering about the platform’s value for teaching purposes. Lauren works in public scholarship and likes to create dynamic learning experiences.

Her ThingLink project called “Revealing the Divine: Multi-Modal Imaging of Judean Pillar Figurines” was shared at a national conference for archaeologists and art historians in her field. The audience seemed excited to see a new way to present advanced research in a digestible manner.

Overall, Lauren finds ThingLink to be an accessible digital tool that provides a smooth, self-guided user experience. It brings teachers of all kinds the opportunity to connect with their students in new and creative ways. And the support team at ThingLink was super helpful when she asked for feedback about her project (shoutout to Andreas!).

Ancient artifacts hold multiple meanings simultaneously. ThingLink allows her to highlight this aspect of the ancient feminine figurines she studies. Presenting the figurines through non-linear stories about their potential meaning allowed Lauren to share her research in a way where the form reflected the conclusion:

There are many useful avenues of understanding for these objects and there is no authoritative way to interpret them.

Thanks to Lauren K. It sheds light on their perspectives and the curiosity driving impactful projects that advance research across diverse fields.

Lauren K.
