These updates are intended to make our legal documents clearer, better reflect how our services are used today, and provide more transparency about how ThingLink handles user content, subscriptions, and personal data.

Below is a summary of the main changes.

Changes to the Terms of Use

We have updated ThingLink’s Terms of Use to better reflect how our services are used today. The main changes include:

Updated the User Content License Grant to better reflect how ThingLink uses your content. The intent has always been to give ThingLink the limited rights needed to host, display, and operate user content as part of providing the service, and to confirm that users have the necessary rights to the content they upload. The updated wording makes this clearer and more limited.

Clarified that account sharing is prohibited. Accounts are assigned to individual users and may not be shared, pooled, or used by anyone other than the assigned user. This requirement was previously included in a separate policy and is now included directly in the Terms.

Clarified subscription renewal and cancellation terms, including automatic renewal for monthly and annual subscriptions unless cancelled before renewal.

Updated indemnity terms to make them clearer and more balanced, including narrowed customer indemnity obligations and a new ThingLink commitment to defend customers against certain third-party intellectual property infringement claims related to the Services.

Added ThingLink’s UK legal entity for customers located in the United Kingdom, including the applicable contracting entity, governing law, and dispute resolution forum.

Made other updates to improve clarity, remove outdated language, and better reflect current services, plans, and operational practices.

You can review the full Terms of Use at https://www.thinglink.com/terms.

Changes to Privacy Policy

We have also made smaller updates to our Privacy Policy to make it clearer and easier to understand. These changes are mostly clarifications rather than changes to how ThingLink handles personal data. The main updates include:

Clarified ThingLink’s role as a data controller and processor. The updated policy explains more clearly when ThingLink processes personal data for its own purposes and when we process personal data on behalf of organizational customers, such as schools, educational institutions, and companies. It also clarifies how individual users can make data-related requests when they use ThingLink through an organization.

Clarified how we collect and handle different types of data. We updated the descriptions of user content, location data, and payment data to better reflect how the service works today. This includes clarifying that ThingLink does not geotrack users or store credit card data, and removing redundant subsections to make the policy easier to follow.

Clarified data-sharing disclosures with other ThingLink companies. The updated policy explains that personal data may be shared with other ThingLink companies involved in providing the service.

Updated contact and supervisory authority details. We updated ThingLink’s contact details and added a reference to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman as ThingLink’s supervisory authority.

Streamlined the language. We made other smaller wording and organizational updates to improve clarity and readability.

You can review the full Privacy Policy at https://www.thinglink.com/privacy.

Questions?

If you have any questions or concerns about these updates, please contact us at info@thinglink.com.

On 01 June 2026, ThingLink’s updated Terms of Use and Privacy Policy will come into effect.
