Without a scalable support model, the rooms weren\u2019t being used to their full potential. The digital team needed a way to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Make hands-on training accessible without requiring constant in-person guidance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give staff a safe, self-paced way to build confidence with new tech<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a fun, immersive learning environment that modelled the very technologies the rooms were designed for<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that <em>everyone<\/em> &#8211; staff and students &#8211; could fully benefit from the investment<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Solution: A <\/strong><strong>ThingLink<\/strong><strong>-Powered Hybrid <\/strong><strong>Escape Room<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The team created <strong>\u201cGroup Intelligence\u201d<\/strong>, a self-guided, fully AI-generated gamified escape-room experience blending the physical Innovation Room equipment with ThingLink\u2019s interactive digital layers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The focus on AI in the escape room to support students\u2019 understanding of its potential:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Video was created through Sora and Kling AI<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Audio and 2D visuals created through Vision Story<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI generated tasks created using Replit and Lovable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students also need to create an AI generated image of their destination.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students also need to use Canva code for tutor to create a cypher for the alien language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants work in teams under time pressure, solving puzzles across:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Three digital screens<\/strong> displaying different ThingLink experiences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>VR headsets<\/strong><strong> with AI generated activities<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Physical lockboxes and hidden codes<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>360\u00b0 environments<\/strong> created in Skybox and enhanced with ThingLink annotations in hotspots<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>AI-generated 2D imagery<\/strong> created with Vision Story and converted into interactive images and infographics in ThingLink<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This hybrid setup trains users to operate the room&#8217;s technology naturally and playfully &#8211; removing the fear factor and building confidence through discovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can explore the escape room for yourself below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thinglink.com\/videocard\/2026674697764078436\" type=\"text\/html\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"\" mozallowfullscreen=\"\" allowfullscreen=\"\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Benefits<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits <strong>For the College<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Massive time savings<\/strong>: Staff and students can learn independently without relying on digital team availability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Better utilisation of costly facilities<\/strong>: The Innovation Room now has higher, more consistent use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>One build, unlimited reuse<\/strong>: The escape room can run repeatedly for staff inductions, student sessions, tutorials, or enrichment activities. This creates several logistical difficulties:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Apprentices start year-round, so <strong>synchronous, trainer-led delivery isn\u2019t possible<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students are spread across locations and often use personal devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Materials must be <strong>engaging enough<\/strong> to complete independently, with straightforward functionality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The digital team must build <strong>15+ <\/strong><strong>modules<\/strong> on the essential subjects with limited time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The first course developed was the PREVENT module, which needed to be interactive, mobile-friendly, highly accessible, and easy to deliver at scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Solution: Interactive, Self-Guided <\/strong><strong>ThingLink<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>Modules<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Using ThingLink, the team created an <strong>interactive PREVENT training <\/strong><strong>module<\/strong>, enriched with resources built in Canva and AI tools. The experience can be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Self-guided<\/strong> on any device for remote, asynchronous online learning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delivered in <strong>live teaching sessions<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shared instantly via <strong>QR code<\/strong>, bypassing access or login problems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, <strong>500 <\/strong><strong>learners<\/strong>
